Review general chat history
Who this is for: Counsellors Time: 2-5 minutes You'll need: Access to the student's profile page
What this does
Use the General Chat tab to review a student's past open-ended chat sessions with Addie.
Before you begin
- Open the student from your Students list.
- Open the student's profile page.
Steps
1. Open the student's profile
Go to Students and select the student you want to review.
2. Select General Chat
On the student profile page, select General Chat.
3. Review the session list
Use the session list to see the student's chat history.
For each session, you can see:
- the session name
- whether it was standard chat or
General Chat (SMS) - message count
- when the last message was sent
- when the session started
4. Open a session
Select the session you want to review.
Addie opens the full message history in a dialog.
5. Look for patterns or follow-up needs
Review the messages for themes, questions, concerns, or repeated topics.
This is useful when you want to prepare for outreach or understand what the student has been thinking about outside assigned conversations.
6. Ask follow-up questions if needed
If you want more help interpreting the student's activity, use the right-side Addie chat panel on the profile page.
What happens next
- You can open another session from the same list.
- You can switch to Conversations if you want to compare assigned work with open-ended chat.
- You can use what you learn to plan your next student follow-up.
If something looks wrong
You see No General Chat History
- This student may not have had any general chat sessions yet.
- Check Conversations for assigned work instead.
A session opens but looks incomplete
- Wait a moment for the messages to load.
- Close the dialog and open the session again.
You want to ask about one specific session
- Open the session first.
- Then use the profile chat panel to ask Addie a focused follow-up question.
