Share to Google Classroom

What this does​

Post a link to a published conversation into one of your Google Classroom classes, so students can open it from Classroom. Only students already assigned the conversation in Addie can open the link.

Before you begin​

  • Your school must have Share to Google Classroom turned on. If you don't see this option, ask your Addie administrator.
  • The conversation must be published.
  • You must be signed into Google in your browser.
  • Make sure the Classroom class you share to matches the students assigned to this conversation in Addie — Classroom posts go to everyone in the class, not just assigned students.

Open the conversation​

Select Conversations from the left-hand navigation, then open the published conversation you want to share.

Open the menu​

Select the ⋯ menu in the conversation header.

Select Share to Google Classroom​

Select Share to Google Classroom. A small Google window opens on top of the page for you to choose your Google account.

Choose a class in Google Classroom​

Pick your Google account, then pick the class under Teaching. The assignment title and link are already filled in — select Assign to post it. Addie doesn't take any further part in this step — Google handles posting and your Addie page stays where it was.

What happens next​

  • The assignment appears in the class Stream in Google Classroom, with a link to the conversation on the Addie student site.
  • A student already signed in to Addie who selects the link goes straight into the conversation.
  • A signed-out student is sent to sign in first; after they sign in, they land directly in the conversation, not their home page.
  • Addie does not get confirmation back from Google that the post succeeded — check Google Classroom directly to confirm it posted.
  • Students who aren't assigned the conversation in Addie won't be able to open it, even if they're in the Classroom class — they'll see Conversation Not Found.

If something looks wrong​

I don't see Share to Google Classroom in the menu​

The menu only shows Duplicate (no Share option) if any of these apply:

  • Your school hasn't turned on this feature yet — contact your Addie administrator.
  • The conversation is still a draft — publish it first.

A student sees "Conversation Not Found"​

  • The student isn't assigned this conversation in Addie, even though they're in the Classroom class. Assign them the conversation, or check your journey assignment.

A student sees "Account Not Found" when signing in​

  • The email they're signing in with isn't registered in Addie. Confirm their Addie account uses the same email as their Google Classroom account.
