Update the letter of recommendation prompt

Who this is for: School Admins (only on schools with this feature enabled) Time: 5 min

What this does​

Customize the underlying prompt Addie uses to draft letters of recommendation for your school, instead of using Addie's default.

Before you begin​

  • Only School Admins can edit this prompt. Other counselors can view it but not change it.
  • This prompt drives letter drafts only — it has no effect on chat.

Open Prompt Suggestions​

Select Prompt Suggestions in the left-hand navigation.

Select the Letter of Recommendation tab​

Review Addie's default prompt​

The Addie default section shows Addie's built-in prompt for reference. It's read-only.

Edit your school's prompt​

The textarea below it is pre-filled with your school's current prompt, or Addie's default if your school hasn't customized one yet. Edit the text directly.

Save your changes​

Select Save changes (or Create school version if your school hasn't saved one before).

What happens next​

  • Letters generated from now on use your school's custom prompt.
  • The status next to Your school's prompt changes to (in use).

If something looks wrong​

I want to go back to Addie's default​

  • Select Reset to Addie default. This removes your school's custom prompt, and new drafts use Addie's default again.

I don't see an editor, just a message​

  • Only School Admins can edit this prompt. Ask your school admin to make the change, or to grant you admin access.

  • Create a prompt suggestion
